The Yoga

Bikram yoga is a sequence of 26 postures and two breathing exercises practiced in a specific order. Each class is 90mins and conducted in a heated room. The class is taught by a qualified instructor who uses specific and direct vocabulary to guide you safely through each posture.

Bikram Yoga is based on scientific and medical research. It is designed to work 100 per cent of your body. Every muscle, joint, organ and major gland! A Bikram Yoga class is suitable for both beginning and advanced yoga practitioners alike.

Who can practice.

Everybody and every body!!! It doesn’t matter what kind of physical condition you are in….. People aged 8-80 years, lazy bums to surf bums, elite athletes to weekend heroes, heart patients to those with no patience, and diabetics to chocaholics all around the world are reaping the benefits of Bikram. The key is effort – all you do is try your best…… the right way!

 

How to prepare for class

- Drink plenty of fluids (alcohol and caffeine don’t count!!!) prior to class.
- Eat lightly before class and definitely no big meals within three hours of practice.
- Wear light, comfortable, exercise clothing that does not go below the knees. You must be able to see your knees in the mirror…..
- Bring an open mind, yoga mat, towel and water bottle (all available at the studio for a small fee)
- Come 20mins early for your first class so we have time to meet and greet.
- Make sure to notify the instructor if you are taking prescribed medication or have any injuries, illness or had recent surgery.
